'Aves'

I’m a huge fan of birds. I chose the formal taxonomy here because there are so many different bird species out there, it makes sense to look at them as a ‘class’, which is called ‘aves’. Some might recall this classification system from high school biology.

Birds are considered the only living dinosaurs, descended from the ‘theropods’, which were hollow-boned dinosaurs with three claws on each leg. It might seem counterintuitive to connect a hummingbird to Tyrannosaurus rex, but they are in fact related. From the Great Blue Heron to the tiny bee hummingbird, they are what’s left of T. Rex and other now extinct dinosaurs.
